A history of the castles, mansions, and manors of western Sussex
A county antiquarian survey of the castles, mansions and manors of western Sussex, compiled by Dudley Cary Elwes and Charles John Robinson and published in London by Longmans in 1876 for local gentry, genealogists and topographers. Pen-and-ink plates show houses in three-quarter view with gables, chimney stacks, mullioned windows and lawn foregrounds, offering fine hatched line work for architectural silhouettes and textures.
