The history of the life and adventures of Mr. Duncan Campbell : a gentleman, who, tho' deaf and dumb, writes down any stranger's name at first sight, with their future contingencies of fortune : now living in Exeter Court over-against the Savoy in the Strand
A 1720 London biography of the deaf fortune-teller Duncan Campbell, attributed to Daniel Defoe and William Bond, printed for Edmund Curll with plates engraved by Michael van der Gucht for a curious metropolitan readership. The index holds mainly typographic ornament: woodcut headbands of scrolling acanthus, masks, squirrels and winged putti, plus foliate corner flourishes usable as rules, dividers and frames.
