History of Rensselaer Co., New York
A subscription county history of Rensselaer County, New York, compiled by Nathaniel Bartlett Sylvester and issued by Everts & Peck of Philadelphia in 1880 for local subscribers whose names and properties fill its pages. The 231 plates are mostly steel-engraved and lithographic bust portraits of bearded businessmen, farmers and officials in dark coats and stocks, alongside views of Troy buildings, mills and maps, offering stipple-shaded faces, vignetted oval frames and engraved signatures for cutting out or collage.
