History of shipbuilding on North river, Plymouth county, Massachusetts, with genealogies of the shipbuilders, and accounts of the industries upon its tributaries. 1640 to 1872

Briggs, L. Vernon (Lloyd Vernon), 1863-1941 · 1889 · Boston, Coburn brothers, printers · 60 pictures

A local industrial and genealogical history of North River shipyards in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, compiled by L. Vernon Briggs and printed by the Coburn brothers in Boston in 1889 for local historians and shipbuilders' descendants. The plates mix halftone portraits of aging New England men, wood-engraved views of houses, mills and yards among trees, and hand-drawn pen maps in which the river winds between named lots, ship yards and bridges — useful for hatched water, small black lot markers, and hand-lettered place names.
