Hokusai manga
A 1912 Kyoto reprint by Unsōdō of Hokusai's Manga, the woodblock sketchbooks he began issuing in 1814 as drawing models for students, craftsmen and amateur painters. Pages group many small brush-line figures on one sheet — here horses seen from behind, in profile and grazing, wearing patterned saddle blankets and tasselled harness — usable as spot drawings, pattern motifs and pose reference.
