Hokusai manga
A 1912 Kyoto reprint by Unsōdō of Katsushika Hokusai's Manga, the woodblock-printed sketchbooks first issued from 1814 as drawing models for students, craftsmen and amateur painters. Pages carry line-drawn landscape and figure studies with dotted stippling and flat grey blocks — a mill wheel beside a stone revetment, blossoming branches, water and drapery — offering reusable pattern textures, brush-line conventions and framed vignette layouts.
