A late Edo woodblock-printed drawing manual by Katsushika Hokusai, issued in multi-volume form by the Nagoya publisher Eirakuya Tōshirō (this printing 1868), compiled as a stock of models for painters, craftsmen and students. Pages mix crowded sheets of small figure studies tradesmen, porters, peddlers, laborers in mid-motion with single large figures and quiet still lifes of baskets, tubs and trays, all drawn in fine keyblock line with grey and pale flesh tones, useful as pose libraries, spot figures and object silhouettes.
