Home games for the people: a collection of family amusements for the fireside, parlour, or pic-nic parties. For the use of the old and young
A parlour-game manual published by P. J. Cozans in New York in 1855, gathering forfeits, guessing games and other family amusements for firesides, parlours and picnic parties, addressed to old and young alike. Wood engravings signed E. Baldwin, some after drawings by Momberger, show adults in 1850s evening dress mid-game: rings of seated players leaning in to whisper, a man stepping out from behind a folding screen, a couple caught kissing, all in loose hatched line on tinted stock that suits cut-out figure groups, gesture studies and period costume reference.
