Homes, haunts, and works of Rubens, Vandyke, Rembrandt, and Cuyp; the Dutch genre-painters; Michael Angelo and Raffaelle. Being a series of art-rambles in Belgium, Holland and Italy
An illustrated travel account of artists' houses and birthplaces in Belgium, Holland and Italy, written and drawn by the antiquarian engraver F. W. Fairholt and issued by D. Appleton in New York in 1872 for general readers of art topography. The wood engravings record doorways, gabled facades, courtyards, carved ornament and small figures in period dress, giving designers architectural detail, textured line shading and framed street vignettes.
