The Honiton lace book
An 1875 instruction manual on Honiton bobbin lace, published in London by the Bazaar under the pseudonym Devonia for needlewomen working the Devon technique at home. Plates print white lace patterns against solid black grounds — lilies, daisy collarettes, sprigged leaves and scalloped borders — giving designers crisp reversed-out botanical motifs and repeatable edge ornament.
