Housekeeper's quest : where to find pretty things.
An 1885 illustrated trade catalogue from Sypher & Co., a New York dealer in antique and reproduction furnishings, printed by J.J. Little & Co. for middle-class householders furnishing rooms. Wood-engraved plates show single pieces in three-quarter view against blank grounds: marquetry cabinets, a carved long-case clock, caryatid-armed settees, painted porcelain medallions and carved panel ornament, all usable as isolated silhouettes or pattern details.
