How Paris amuses itself;
An illustrated account of Parisian nightlife, cafés, balls, theatres and street entertainments, written and drawn by the American author-illustrator F. Berkeley Smith and published by Funk & Wagnalls in New York in 1903 for English-speaking readers and tourists. The plates mix halftone photographs of crowded restaurant interiors, dance halls and studio parties with charcoal character studies and caricature head sheets, offering designers grainy low-light crowd scenes, Belle Epoque dress and furnishings, and loose tonal portrait drawings.
