King, John Groom, b. 1870 · 1915 · Charlotte, N. C. : Washburn Press · 14 pictures

A mill-hand's manual by John Groom King, published in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1915, teaching loom operators and overseers how to calculate warp ends and lay out color patterns for woven cloth. Plates show tipped-in swatches and printed facsimiles of striped and checked fabric, annotated with brackets marking one complete pattern, selvage counts and cut lines, giving designers dense woven textures, repeat diagrams and red-blue-black stripe sequences.
