An emblem book compiled by Jacobus à Bruck of Angermund, engraved by Matthäus Merian and published by Jacob van der Heyden at Strasbourg in 1615, addressed to learned readers and military men who read moral and martial devices in Latin. The plates are engraved roundels, each ringed by a motto in spaced capitals and enclosing a small scene: an armored arm with sword, laurel and olive, a lily fenced by thorns, a mirror under a star, battles and towns behind.
