Androuet du Cerceau, Jacques, fl. 1549-1584 · 1550 · Avreliæ [In Orleans : s.n.] · 36 pictures

A suite of engraved architectural fantasies published in Orléans in 1550 by the French designer and printmaker Jacques Androuet du Cerceau, showing invented temples in the antique manner for antiquarians, architects and builders. Each plate is a line-engraved three-quarter view of a domed, columned, stepped structure, offering classical orders, arcades, coffered domes and pediments as clean outline motifs.
