The iconography of Manhattan Island, 1498-1909 : compiled from original sources and illustrated by photo-intaglio reproductions of important maps, plans, views, and documents in public and private collections
I. N. Phelps Stokes's six-volume documentary history of Manhattan, published by Robert H. Dodd in New York from 1915 and compiled with Victor Hugo Paltsits and F. C. Wieder for historians, collectors, and city archivists. The plates are photo-intaglio facsimiles of maps, views, and manuscripts: dense Dutch secretary-hand pages, torn and stained paper edges, and looping notarial signatures usable as texture, borders, and script ornament.
