Iconography of the west front of Wells cathedral, with an appendix on the sculptures of other medieval churches in England;
An architectural study by the Greek Revival architect C. R. Cockerell, published by J. H. Parker in Oxford and London in 1851, identifying and cataloguing the carved figures of the west front of Wells Cathedral for antiquaries and church historians, with an appendix on sculpture at other English medieval churches. The plates are close photographic views of weathered limestone statues standing in canopied niches, showing deep drapery folds, mitres and crowns, worn faces and animal supporters at the feet, useful for drapery reference, stone texture, and Gothic niche framing.
