Iconologia del cavaliere Cesare Ripa, perugino
Cesare Orlandi's expanded edition of Cesare Ripa's Iconologia, printed at Perugia in 1764 as a reference of personified abstractions for artists, poets, and emblem-makers. Etched plates show single allegorical figures with their attributes—crowns, cornucopias, bagpipes, winged genii—amid woodcut headpieces and tailpieces of grotesques, scrollwork, and portrait busts usable as vignettes and borders.
