A four-volume dictionary of allegorical figures drawn by Hubert Gravelot and Charles-Nicolas Cochin, engraved under Gaucher and published in Paris in 1791 for artists, collectors and the instruction of young people. Each plate frames a single standing personification with her attributes inside a ruled border above a titled cartouche, giving designers ready-made emblem figures, labels and frames.
