I dieci libri d'architettvra
Giovanni Antonio Rusconi's Italian version of Vitruvius's ten books on architecture, printed in Venice by Nicolini in 1660 for builders, masons and architects. Alongside woodcut diagrams of orders, machines and construction, the pages carry inhabited initials in which bearded figures, birds and acanthus scrolls twist around the letterform — usable as drop caps, spot ornament or line-art borders.
