Ignatius : insignium, epigrammatum et elogiorum centuriis expressus
A Jesuit emblem book on Ignatius of Loyola by Carlo Bovio, printed in Rome by Ignazio de Lazzeri in 1655 for devotional and rhetorical instruction. Each engraving sets a Latin motto on a ribbon inside a scrolled strapwork cartouche with mascarons and shells, framing hatched scenes of beehives, altars, landscapes and skies useful as ornamental frames and device stock.
