Illustrated almanac of fashion.
An illustrated almanac issued as a clothing catalogue by Charles Stokes & Co., a Philadelphia menswear firm, in 1863, aimed at civilian and military customers during the Civil War. Hand-colored wood engravings show groups of three standing men in Union officers' and enlisted uniforms and in civilian frock coats and top hats, useful for period costume reference, flat color over hatched shading, and figure-group compositions.
