An auction catalogue issued by the American Art Association in New York in 1917 to sell the studio contents of the tonalist painter Henry Ward Ranger, aimed at collectors and dealers. Halftone plates reproduce dusky landscapes: massed woodland, wet meadows, shorelines and pale open skies, useful as soft-edged tonal grounds, silhouetted tree masses and low-contrast atmospheric textures.
