An auction catalogue issued by the American Art Association in New York for the December 1917 sale of Italian antiquities and furniture gathered by the Florentine dealer Elia Volpi, aimed at collectors and the trade. Halftone plates show single objects against plain grounds, mostly carved walnut chairs, chests, tables and church fittings photographed straight on, giving clean silhouettes of scrollwork, masks, acanthus and turned supports that lift easily as isolated ornament.
