Illustrations of the architectural ornaments and embellishments and painted glass of the Temple Church, London
A folio record of the Temple Church restoration, drawn by Richard Hamilton Essex with text by Sydney Smirke and issued by John Weale in London in 1845 for architects and church builders. Hand-coloured lithographs show painted vault spandrels, foliate scrollwork, enthroned medieval kings, heraldic shields and Gothic lettering, giving flat bright colour schemes and repeatable border patterns.
