Illustrations of the remains of Roman art, in Cirencester, the site of antient Corinium
An 1850 archaeological report by James Buckman and Charles Newmarch on Roman finds from Cirencester, the town of ancient Corinium, published in London and Cirencester for antiquarians and subscribers. Wood-engraved plates record pottery, amphorae, relief-carved stonework and spiral ornament in outline and fine hatching, giving designers vessel silhouettes, running scroll motifs and fragment edges drawn as broken contours.
