Illvstratione de gli epitaffi et medaglie antiche
An Italian antiquarian survey of Roman inscriptions and coins compiled by Gabriele Simeoni and printed by Jean de Tournes at Lyon in 1558 for humanist collectors and students of antiquity. The woodcuts pair circular coin reverses—arches with quadrigas, temples, figures flanked by S C—with elevations of inscribed altars, bases and tombs set in ruled frames, giving designers Roman capital lettering, moulding profiles and compact medallic emblems.
