Il Vignola illustrato
An illustrated Roman edition of Vignola's rules of the five architectural orders, engraved by Giovanni Battista Spampani and Carlo Antonini with figures by Franciszek Smuglewicz and printed by Marco Pagliarini in 1770 for architects, builders and drawing students. Copperplate elevations, plans and details show pedestals, fluted columns, capitals, cornices and arcades, each ruled with module scales and modelled in fine parallel hatching, giving designers measured architectural line work and ready-made ornament profiles.
