Imprese illustri di diuersi : co i discorsi
Camillo Camilli's three-part collection of personal devices with explanatory discourses, engraved by Girolamo Porro and printed by Francesco Ziletti in Venice in 1586 for courtiers and readers of emblem literature. Each impresa is an engraved emblem—column, bird over rain clouds, ships, animals—set in a strapwork cartouche with mottoes on ribbons, alongside woodcut initials and headpieces built from grotesque masks and scrolling foliage; useful for frame shapes, banner lettering, and ornamental capitals.
