Imprese illustri di diuersi, coi discorsi di Camillo Camilli, et con le figure intagliate in rame di Girolamo Porro Padouano ..
An Italian emblem book of 1586, printed in Venice by Francesco Ziletti, with commentaries by Camillo Camilli on the personal devices (imprese) of noblemen and scholars, and copperplate figures cut by Girolamo Porro of Padua. The plates pair a motto scroll and a single symbolic object — beehive, basket, tree, hand, star — inside heavy strapwork cartouches, and the text is broken by woodcut initials in which birds, grotesques and lizards climb the letterforms.
