An emblem book of heraldic imprese with commentaries by Camillo Camilli and copperplate figures by Girolamo Porro, printed in Venice by Francesco Ziletti in 1586 for noble and courtly readers. Alongside the engraved device plates run woodcut initials and headpieces built from grotesque beasts, crowned birds, masks and scrolling foliage, useful as drop caps, ornament strips and small framed motto-and-motif compositions.
