Volume four of Ruđer Bošković's five-part Latin treatise on optics and astronomy, printed by the Remondini press at Bassano in 1785 and dedicated to Louis XVI, written for mathematicians and astronomers. The plates are engraved geometrical diagrams, several numbered figures grouped inside a ruled border on each sheet: circles crossed by chords and radii, thin triangulated ray constructions, and one solid black rhombus, all tagged with small italic letters designers can lift as line-art or pattern elements.
