Volume one of a hunting manual in the Badminton Library series, written by Clive Phillipps-Wolley with illustrations by Charles Whymper, published by Longmans, Green in London in 1895 for British sportsmen travelling abroad. The plates are tonal wash and pen drawings of bears, bison and stalkers on steep ground, with dense thicket textures and figures dwarfed by landscape.
