Indian cotton
A 1915 survey report on Indian cotton growing and trade, compiled by Arno S. Pearse for the International Federation of Master Cotton Spinners' and Manufacturers' Associations and issued at Manchester for European spinners and traders. The 45 plates are coarse-screen halftone field photographs: bullock carts and ginning gear, stacked bales and pressing yards, labourers at work, and flat horizons of cotton bush, useful as grainy documentary texture, silhouetted working figures, and wide low-contrast landscape bands.
