Ingalls' hand-book of darned lace patterns ..
A needlework pattern manual published by J. Fred Ingalls in Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1885, sold to home lacemakers working darned net (filet) lace. The plates are photographic reproductions of finished lace: pale thread patterns on a dark hexagonal mesh ground, showing borders, repeating diamond and leaf motifs, scalloped edgings, and dense scrolling all-over fills usable as textures, tiling ornament, or high-contrast monochrome backgrounds.
