Martino Bassi's 1572 dispute over the architecture and perspective of Milan Cathedral, printed in Brescia by the Marchetti brothers with written opinions from Vasari, Palladio and other architects, addressed to practising designers and patrons. The plates pair square woodcut initials filled with acanthus scrolls, berries and curling foliage with geometric perspective diagrams, giving designers ready alphabet ornaments and line-ruled construction schemes.
