In memoriam, Edwin McMasters Stanton, his life and work : with account of dedication of bronze statue in his native city
A commemorative volume by Joseph Beatty Doyle, printed in Steubenville, Ohio, in 1911, recording the life of Lincoln's war secretary Edwin McMasters Stanton and the dedication of his bronze statue in his hometown, aimed at local subscribers and civic committees. Halftone portrait busts dominate: nineteenth-century men in frock coats, whiskers and standing collars, grainy and high-contrast, plus monument and ceremony views.
