In sepulchralem lapidem Sexti Varii Marcelli in agro Veliterno nuper effossum observationes
A Latin antiquarian treatise by Massimo Zampini on the sepulchral stone of Sextus Varius Marcellus excavated near Velletri, printed in Rome in 1765 by Bernabò and Lazzarini for scholars of Roman inscriptions. The plates indexed here are the printer's woodcut headpieces and tailpieces: symmetrical rococo compositions of acanthus scrolls, grinning masks, flaming urns, flower baskets, shells, tassel swags and cross-hatched lattice grounds, usable as ornament rules, cartouche frames and repeating border units.
