International studio
International Studio, the New York edition of the London art magazine The Studio, began in 1897 for American collectors, artists and designers following contemporary painting, printmaking and the decorative arts. The 450 plates are mostly soft-focus halftone reproductions of paintings and etchings, dark and grainy: tree-shaded parks, market squares with carriages, beach figures, a bridge at dusk, plus ornament and lettering.
