International studio

1897 · New York · 490 pictures

The International Studio, the New York edition of the London art magazine The Studio, begun in 1897 for artists, collectors and decorators. Plates run to halftone reproductions of landscape paintings, etchings and wash drawings — tonal woods and riversides, a figure in an arcaded cloister — alongside decorative-arts pages, giving soft grey tonal scenes, ink hatching textures and period ornament.
