International studio
An art monthly begun in 1897 as the New York edition of London's The Studio, reporting on painting, design, and decorative arts for collectors, students, and working artists. Plates are mostly halftone reproductions of contemporary paintings and drawings — hazy coastal and river landscapes, garden scenes with figures, waterfalls — giving soft grey tonal washes and loose atmospheric backdrops.
