International studio
International Studio was a New York art monthly begun in 1897 as the American edition of London's The Studio, reporting on painting, printmaking and the decorative arts for artists, collectors and designers. Its plates are mostly halftone reproductions of etchings, drypoints and tonal drawings — cattle by rail fences, masted boats in harbour, wooded riverbanks, nude figures in landscape — grainy soft-focus grays useful as atmospheric backgrounds and texture fields.
