International studio
The International Studio was the New York edition of the London art monthly The Studio, begun in 1897 and aimed at artists, collectors and decorators following current painting, printmaking and applied design. Its plates are halftone and line reproductions of contemporary work: crowded pen-and-ink narrative illustrations with printed captions, soft-focus studies of single figures, and circular etched compositions grouped on one page, useful for roundel formats, tonal figure studies and caption-and-image layouts.
