International studio
The International Studio was the New York edition of the London art magazine The Studio, begun in 1897 and addressed to painters, craftworkers, collectors and decorative designers. The plates are monochrome halftone reproductions of contemporary paintings and drawings — tonal landscapes, a seated woman in profile, girls in a flowering meadow, broad cloud-filled skies over water — useful as soft-edged grey backgrounds, figure studies and atmospheric scenery.
