An introduction to the study of colour phenomena, explaining a new theory of colour based entirely on experimental facts with applications to scientific and industrial investigations
A 1905 technical treatise by Joseph Williams Lovibond, published in London and New York by Spon, setting out a measurement-based theory of colour for scientists, dyers and industrial testers. The plates are hand-tinted diagrams: segmented colour wheels labelled by hue and scale, prismatic ray fans from a white-light source, paired tint discs, and ruled graphs with red and violet curves.
