An Italian edition of Charles Patin's introduction to the study and practice of medals, printed in Venice in 1673 for antiquarians and coin collectors. The plates are small woodcut roundels showing obverse and reverse pairs: laurelled profile busts ringed by Latin and Greek lettering, standing figures, banquet and altar scenes, and emblems such as storks, a radiant sun and a wreathed numeral \u2014 useful as circular badge frames, lettering-on-a-curve models and coarse-line profile heads.
