Investigation of a highway bridge
A 1907 undergraduate civil engineering thesis by Joseph William Schertz, submitted at the University of Illinois and read by engineering faculty examining the design of a highway truss bridge. The twelve plates are hand-inked line drawings on ruled paper: truss elevations with panel dimensions, dead- and live-load figures lettered by hand, and fanned stress diagrams radiating from a single point, useful as sparse geometric linework, technical hand lettering, and annotated diagram layouts.
