Investigation of an ore-handling crane
An engineering thesis by Robert Weir McCracken, submitted at the University of Illinois in 1908, analyzing the structure and loading of an ore-handling crane for faculty examiners and fellow engineers. The plates are line drawings and blueprints: dimensioned elevations of a trussed bridge crane over ore piles and barges, wheel-load diagrams with arrows and foot-inch callouts, fanned center-line layouts of walls and bridge carriage, and a blue-ground plate of stress diagrams \u2014 useful for hand-lettered dimension strings, truss geometry, and cyanotype-blue technical texture.
