Ioann. Ernest. Imm. Walchii ... Antiqvitates Hercvlanenses litterariae : accedit Sylloge inscriptionvm Hercvlanei atqve in eivs confiniis ervtarvm
A Latin treatise by Johann Ernst Immanuel Walch on the literary antiquities and inscriptions of Herculaneum, printed at Jena by the Schill press in 1751 for antiquarians and classical scholars. The plates here are printer's ornaments in woodcut and cast fleuron: a beehive among leafy scrolls, flower-filled urns on balustrades, a tiered fountain in a cartouche, tasselled swags — symmetrical strips usable as headers, dividers and spot motifs.
