Istoricheske ocherki po russkomu ornamentu v rukopisiakh
Fedor Buslaev's historical essays on Russian manuscript ornament, issued in Petrograd in 1917 by the Academy of Sciences' Russian language and literature division for philologists and students of medieval art. The plates copy headpieces and initials from Slavonic codices in outline and shaded engraving: dense interlaced strapwork knotted through birds, dragons and human figures, stepped and rectangular frames, and corner sprigs usable as borders, monograms and repeating knot patterns.
